Proportions and Ratios

We are learning to identify half of an object or shape 

by practical means.

We talked about, and then cut these whole objects in half.

We each had a whole lump of dough.

We experimented with making a shape out of the dough, and then we cut our shape in half. That gave us 2 equal pieces.

 Rhian made a pizza.  He cut it in half.
He will have 2 equal pieces.

 Maia is cutting her apple in half.  
She will have 2 halves of her apple.

 Ronin will give half of his pizza to his sister.
He will cut his pizza into 2 equal pieces.

 Jenna made an apple. When she cuts it in half, 
she gets 2 smaller pieces that are the same size.

 Emily is cutting her pizza in half. 
Her pieces are the same size 
but they are smaller than the whole pizza.

 Ethan made an apple and then cut it 
into 2 equal pieces. 
He will give half his apple to his brother.

 Finn is cutting his pancake in half.
He will have half for Emily and half for himself.

Arielle made a pancake. She cut it into 2 equal pieces.  
That is 2 halves of one whole pancake.
